Industry internships are balanced by class time and guest lecturers. Through the Foundations for Media Involvement, Reporting in Washington and Washington, News & Public Discourse classes, you broaden your knowledge and experiences. Form the foundation for your future - whether you end up writing the news or consuming it.
WJC's classroom goals:
- Provide a theoretical framework for the real-world news industry in Washington, D.C.
- Study the pursuit of fairness, justice and truth in powerful media outlets and marginalized neighborhoods.
- Hone reporting and writing skills needed in all forms of modern media.
WJC's experiential goals:
- Grow through the practice of real-world journalism. Students will function as professional journalists living and working in the city and be required to meet deadlines and hold to industry-level standards of quality.
- Gain understanding by serving. Students address the real human needs that are so prevalent in this city through service projects.
