Academics

WJC's classroom goals:

  • Provide a theoretical framework for the real-world news industry in Washington, D.C.
  • Study the pursuit of fairness, justice and truth in powerful media outlets and marginalized neighborhoods.
  • Hone reporting and writing skills needed in all forms of modern media.

WJC's experiential goals:

  • Grow through the practice of real-world journalism. Students will function as professional journalists living and working in the city and be required to meet deadlines and hold to industry-level standards of quality.
  • Gain understanding by serving. Students address the real human needs that are so prevalent in this city through service projects.
