Academics

In addition to class time centered on contemporary political, social, economic and religious issues confronting African peoples and countries, USP is highly dependant on understanding and learning from cross-cultural experiences and how this exposure to Ugandan Christianity challenges our own faith. Experiential learning of faith, politics, and relationships, challenges students to think outside the box and shift from ethno-centrism to cross-cultural appreciation.

USP students take 4-5 courses while at Uganda Christian University. The vast array of topics include African Literature, East African Politics, Understanding Worldviews, African Traditional Religions, Law and Christian Political Thought, and Reading the New Testament in Africa along with many other electives.

Students apply to the Uganda Studies Emphasis (USE); the Intercultural Ministry and Missions Emphasis (IMME); or the Social Work Emphasis (SWE). All students take the Faith & Action course plus some combination of Core courses on the African Context, Practicum/Emphasis courses and Elective courses to enroll in 13-17 semester credit hours.
