BestSemester.com is the portal for the off-campus study programs offered by the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). There are a total of eleven semester programs and one summer program designed to serve the academic interests of CCCU member institutions.

The Russian Studies Program provides you with the opportunity to be on the edge of discovery as political and economic events daily influence the Russia of tomorrow and her relationship with the West. The program seeks to prepare you to live out your faith in a multinational and culturally diverse world.

The Cyrillic alphabet was developed late in the ninth century, not long before the Dynasty of the Ruriks established themselves in Kiev. Prince Vladimir converted to Christianity in 988. Moscow was built as a defense outpost in 1147. Moscow University was founded in 1755, 21 years before the United States was even "born." This country represents much more than Communism and the Cold War. To help comprehend what you see, you will learn the language and meet the people. And when you live with a Russian family, you'll discover how the spirit of the people is as enduring as the country itself.

Those who visit the country for four weeks may assume they could write a travel book educating others. But those who stay four months realize they will never have the words to describe all they have seen and learned. The more you delve into Russia, the more you realize there is more to discover. Are you ready? Living in a foreign culture exposes you to new traditions, habits and thought patterns. While it's an amazing process, evaluating and repsonding to them can best be done in community. That's why the RSP emphasizes life together by providing opportunities for students to come together for Bible study, worship and discussion. You talk about your faith, living in Russia and what this means for life back home. Camaraderie sometimes means the difference between seeing and experiencing. So come join the group for a semester at the Russian Studies Program.
