HOW DOES BILLING WORK FOR LAFSC PARTICIPATION?
The LAFSC Summer Graduate Institute (SGI) is an extension campus of each member institution of the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU). Typically, the CCCU invoices campuses for the cost of SGI participation and in turn campuses bill their students following the campus' established policies and procedures. (For example, some schools charge the exact fees of the off-campus program, other schools charge the campus tuition price, while others charge full on-campus fees plus an additional off-campus study fee. And there's every variation in between!)
Since each school determines their own policies regarding off-campus study costs and the applicability of institutional scholarships and other aid, you should confirm your school's policies with the Off-Campus Study Coordinator on your campus.
HOW MUCH DO I PAY & WHAT'S INCLUDED?
Typically the only expenses SGI participants pay directly to the CCCU are the application fee ($50), and the non-refundable confirmation fee ($500) which will be deducted from the final invoice sent to your home campus.
About six weeks before SGI begins, the CCCU sends participation invoices to each home campus. All fees are required to be paid in full at least 7 days prior to the start of the program.
Direct Invoice Policy:
Students who request to be invoiced directly (not through their home campus) are required to pay 50% of the total program fees by May 5, 2017; and the remaining 50% is due by May 29, 2017 (one week before the start date of the program). Students who have not made payments by the respective deadlines may not be allowed to enroll in courses unless alternate financial payment arrangements have been approved.
SGI Program Fees

Keep in mind the total program costs billed to you through your school may differ, depending on your campus's policies.
Note: Schools or individuals who pay with a credit card will also be charged a credit card service fee.

- Lab Fees--production costs for the required film production course (licensing fees, location fees, special equipment rentals, props, costumes, makeup, expendables, final screening), approximately $450 value

WHAT ABOUT FINANCIAL AID?
You can expect to use all of your Federal and State financial aid to study off-campus through the BestSemester programs. Additionally, most (but not all) campuses allow students to transfer some or all of their institutional financial aid, scholarships and grants to BestSemester programs.
Contact your Off-Campus Study Coordinator, Financial Aid Office, or other applicable office on your campus for more information and to determine how much financial aid can be applied to your off-campus semester. As anticipated expenses for your off-campus summer program most likely differ from an on-campus summer term, be sure to bring this page so you can adjust your financial aid statement of need.
WHAT IF I'M ACCEPTED AND LATER DECIDE TO WITHDRAW?
We hope this doesn't happen! Just in case...You need to know the BestSemester Withdrawal/Refund Policy.
WHAT IF I DON'T ATTEND A CCCU INSTITUTION?
If you do not attend a CCCU school, your campus may be willing to enter a one-term consortium agreement with the CCCU to allow your participation. If not, you are eligible to enroll as a guest student through Lipscomb University.** Please contact the Los Angeles Film Studies Center (firstname.lastname@example.org) during or prior to the application phase to discuss your participation.
**Guest students of Lipscomb University will be charged an additional $500 for grade conferral and transcription services.
