No, but if you want to take full advantage of the semester, we highly recommend that you bring a car. Having your own transportation will allow you more opportunities for internships and easier access to all Los Angeles has to offer. We understand however that not all of our students can have their own transportation. In most cases, it is possible for you to ride share with other students or use public transportation. It is important to note, however, that your internship possibilities may be limited because a.) some companies require that their interns have a car, and b.) some companies cannot be reached by public transportation.
Actual costs and financial aid for participants may vary, depending on institutional policies. The sending campus is the credit-granting institution, and so they set their own fees. It is important to check with campus authorities so that you will know clearly what your costs will be. CCCU does not set the final cost to you for this study experience. Each CCCU campus has the right to alter the cost in any way it chooses. You must talk with your campus Off-Campus Study Office to find out a dependable dollar figure for this study program. Additional costs include: travel expenses, a $300-$350 lab fee, approximately $100 for textbooks, $100 security deposit and food money.
In most cases, some or all of a student's regular financial aid will apply. You must talk personally with your Financial Aid office on your campus to get a definitive answer as to exactly how much will apply to LAFSC. Those with performance-based scholarships (such as athletic or music scholarships) are most likely to see a decrease in financial aid. In all cases, government aid, Pell grants and bank loans are required by law to continue to apply as long as a student remains enrolled in his or her home institution (and LAFSC students do remain enrolled in their home institution while on the program).

Non-CCCU students may participate in LAFSC on a space-available basis. A $200 charge may also be placed on a non-CCCU student. Non-CCCU students should keep in mind that they must make arrangements with their school to receive credit and financial aid for FSC. Examples of non-CCCU schools that have accepted the CCCU “recommended” credits are James Madison University, Freed-Hardeman University, Baptist Bible College and Cornell.
We use this phrase because, strictly speaking, LAFSC does not grant you course credit; your university does. We recommend grades and credit hours based on guidelines set by CCCU, but your own school will determine what credit or grades you receive. You need to work out with your school what credit you will receive before coming to L.A. In practice, LAFSC credit will function just like your other credits. Though some schools have their own policies about grades & credits vis a vis off-campus study programs, most CCCU schools accept the recommended credit hours and grades for courses that they are able to transfer.
Undergraduate college students in their junior and senior years, CCCU students get first preference, but others may apply if their schools will grant full credit.
Generally, due to insurance regulations, union rules, and time restraints, students cannot intern on a film set. However, on a rare occasion a student will be allowed on-set. Students can however intern at production offices at all of the major Hollywood studios.

Yes, the LAFSC looks at each group of applicants as a whole each semester, with no prejudice against past rejections.
Yes. The LAFSC experience will introduce you to the wonderful world of cinema.
Yes. The FSC specifically integrates students into the Hollywood film and television industry. Students who have taken courses elsewhere will find unique benefits in the internship as well as making movies using the same locations and resources that Hollywood producers use. If Hollywood is your calling, the FSC helps to open those doors.
You will check in at the Activity Center at the Park La Brea apartments between 9am and 3pm on check-in day. The address of Park La Brea is 6200 W. 3rd St. Los Angeles.
There are 26” HDTV televisions in the apartments. Feel free to bring yours if you have a better one.
The LAFSC program is a rigorous full-time academic load. Students will not be allowed to take additional courses by correspondence or as independent studies while enrolled in this program, nor are they allowed to seek employment while attending. Classes and activities are scheduled at a variety of times, including evenings and weekends. Students are strongly encouraged to check with the Center before scheduling any activities other than those scheduled by LAFSC, including weekend plans.
Yes, married students are housed in a one-bedroom apartment. The housing fee is doubled unless both spouses are enrolled in LAFSC.
