It wasn't until I traveled to another country outside Australia that I realized how much I had learned about bridging the cross-cultural barrier. Though some things about Australia seem, at first glance, similar to the US, the experiences we had on the ASC made us feel that we were truly on the other side of the globe. Our many interactions with the First Nations people of the South Coast showed us a way of looking at the world that held such different assumptions from our own. While being both refreshing and challenging, we got the sense that we were experiencing the breadth and width of God's character in a whole new way.
