The program spends several weeks in several cities around China: primarily, Hong Kong, Xiamen (hosted by Xiamen University (a national "key university" located by the sea in sub-tropical southeastern China), as well as Xi'an. The CSP also spends a week in Beijing (as part of the History module) seeing the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, the Tian’anmen Square, and the Forbidden City. The CSP also visits Shanghai, China’s most advanced city, and—in order to help students gain an even broader perspective—a week in a more rural part of China is scheduled during the semester, usually in conjunction with their time in northwestern China.
