Admissions

Are you ready for an adventure in a country just like the United States -- if you turned it upside down and backwards? You will never be the same after your semester in China. From the first time you eat a fish's eyeball to your teary goodbye with Chinese friends, you will feel yourself changing in ways you never dreamed possible. Classes, travels and discussions help you process what you encounter. It's reorienting your priorities, reexamining much of what you believe and reaffirming your priorities in a crazy, mixed up, upside down world. Are you ready to give it a try?

Who Should Apply?
The China Studies Program is interdisciplinary and gives no preference to students in any particular discipline. Chinese language background is not required. However, a serious Christian commitment and a GPA of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale are required. "Tourists" need not apply; we're looking for students who are willing to make a sustained effort to cross into a very different culture.

The program gives priority for acceptance to qualified full-time juniors and seniors earning credit toward their degree from a Council member college. The CSP may, however, accept any exceptional student it believes can meet the rigorous demands of the program, and students from Council affiliate campuses are given priority above students from non-Council institutions (when space permits). When non-Council students are admitted, an additional $200 is charged for their participation.
