The simplest way is to fly into Martha's Vineyard airport (MVY) by connecting in Boston (BOS) or Providence (PVD). If you're not crazy about small commuter planes, you can rent a car or take the bus from Boston or Providence. That will get you as far as Woods Hole, where you'll pick up the ferry.
Fine, although we don't have a lot of parking space on campus. If you plan on driving, please notify us in advance.
You need to arrive on the Saturday before classes start. See the Fall 2008 Key Dates . Your rooms will not be ready before that, and we'll begin orientation with dinner that night.
Fall and Spring breaks happen immediately following the Road Trip. See the CMC Fall 2007 Calendar . For all intents and purposes, the CMC will shut down. There will be no food service provided during this period and you must stay off-campus. Student who would otherwise have to travel a great distance to get home often stay with friends in the program who live closer to the program site.
What?! You want it to be over and you haven't even gotten here? Once again, check out the key dates for Fall 2008 Key Dates.
Brand new, architecturally designed building overlooking the campus. Separate wings for men and women. Dorm rooms sleep 4-6 each in bunk beds. Roommates will be assigned by the Resident Life Director. If you have any special requests, they must be emailed to cmc@bestsemester.com by July 1.
See you soon!
When it comes to clothes, bring as little as possible. Drawer and closet space are at a premium. There's a laundry in the basement of the Cafre to keep you looking (and smelling) good.
Acoustic guitarists-absolutely.
Keyboardists-we'll have several, but if you have certain sounds you can't live without, bring your own samplers and midi boxes.
Drummers-We have a killer DW kit in the Barn for shows, rehearsals and tracking. If you have a special snare or cymbals you love, bring those. Otherwise, leave your drum stuff at home.
Electric guitars and basses-bring your axes for sure. We'll have amps, but, again, if you've got a killer rig you can't live without, bring it or ship it.
Bassoonists, oboe-players-turn back now before it's too late!
There are a number of computers available to students, but you will be best served to bring your own. We will also provide Internet access. When you are notified about your roommates, call or e-mail each other and decide who brings the printer, who brings a CD-burner, etc.
Most doors on campus do not have a lock. Fact is, we're out in the middle of nowhere and we trust each other. If you've got valuables, trade secrets or the last remaining copy of the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds on vinyl, consider bringing a footlocker or trunk to stash your stuff in.
No problem. Take the bus (dirt cheap) or talk to the Resident Life Director about organizing a run into town. We've got a bunch of bikes you can grab, too.
