Warren Pettit, Director, CMC

Warren Pettit was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada in 1962. After finishing degrees at the University of Manitoba and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Warren was given a full scholarship to attend the prestigious Studio Writing and Production program at the University of Miami, Florida. In the fall of 1987, Warren and his wife Beverley moved to Greenville, Illinois to head the commercial program at Greenville College. Fourteen years and three daughters later, he and his family moved to Martha's Vineyard to direct the Contemporary Music Program, an artist's colony for college age musicians. Currently, Warren enjoys playing in a band with his three girls, flying remote control helicopters and walking each night with his wife of 22 years. For more information, see www.warrenpettit.com.

Tom Willett, Assistant Director, CMC

Musician and music industry veteran Tom Willett brings a lifetime of experience to helping young musicians and entertainment industry entrepreneurs learn how to make a living in the music business. After earning his B.A. in Psychology from Wake Forest University, he worked as a touring musician, songwriter, producer, booking agent, artist manager, A&R executive (Word Records, LA) and marketing VP (Sony Music, NY). Willett has been involved in the creation and marketing of more than 60 award-winning records. His work has been cited in Billboard, Rolling Stone, the L.A. Times and Entertainment Weekly, and he has published dozens of articles encouraging excellence in music making and marketing. As the co-founder of the Contemporary Music Center, he has helped develop more than 600 young artists and executives. Willett lives on the Vineyard with his wife of 30 years, Julie.

Mr. Pettit and Mr. Willett are supported by an executive assistant and a resident life director. Additionally, leading artists and music industry executives serve as adjunct faculty throughout the semester.
